Are 24-Hour Teeth & Implants a Good Idea?

New Teeth Now vs. 24-Hour Teeth: What’s the Difference?

Are you one of the many people whose teeth or gums have decayed to the point that you’re looking into dental replacements? If so, you may have already considered a vast array of options and chosen the permanent solution that comes only with dental implants.

Does that mean your search is over and you can just scroll through a list of dental implant providers to get the ideal fix for you? Probably not. Even when it comes to dental implants – especially full mouth dental implants and zygomatic implants – you’ll undoubtedly encounter a variety of marketing terms that you may find confusing. Among them are promises of “same-day” and “24-hour” teeth replacements, leaving you to wonder what the best choice is for you.

At New Teeth Now, we offer a time-tested approach to full mouth and full arch dental implantation that has proven successful for thousands of patients, all of whom had unique oral health conditions and personal aesthetic preferences for their replacement teeth. Our approach combines the latest technology with decades of hands-on experience to deliver reliable results in as short a time as possible.

But here’s how we stand out from other providers. While some may promise to deliver permanent replacement teeth in a single day or within 24 hours, we outfit our patients with durable, natural-looking teeth on the same day as their dental implants are placed – but they’re not intended to be permanent. That’s simply not in our patients’ best interests. Read on to learn why.

Healing requires more than 24 hours

“Ready or not, here we come,” may work for a friendly game on the playground, but it’s a bad idea to rush the placement of permanent artificial teeth after the dental implantation procedure. The biggest reason is that the mouth will undergo many changes as it adapts to new dental implants.

At New Teeth Now, we take steps to make the dental implantation as painless as possible, and many of our patients say they feel little to no pain after they wake up from having general anesthesia. They also experience little discomfort in the days and weeks following their procedure. But it’s only natural for the gums to swell temporarily as part of the healing process.

Moreover, it takes time for dental implants to fully integrate with the jawbone or, in the case of zygomatic implants, the cheekbone. It’s best to wait about six months to allow the integration process to become complete so that the permanent bridge and teeth have the strongest, most stable foundation possible.

What happens when permanent teeth go in too soon?

Typically, a patient’s gums will remain swollen for weeks after full mouth dental implantation, gradually shrinking back to a more natural level. During this time, gaps often form between the gums and the bridge that holds the replacement teeth. Although these gaps may go unnoticed by others, they can be uncomfortable for the patient. If permanent teeth have already been crafted and installed, the patient may be stuck with these annoying gaps or have to pay extra for new teeth to be fabricated and fitted.

At New Teeth Now, we recommend that our patients wait six months to allow their gums to fully heal and settle into their natural position before getting their permanent set of beautiful zirconia teeth that are custom crafted in our in-house dental lab. In the meantime, thanks to that same in-house lab and highly experienced technicians, we can send our patients home right after their dental implant procedure with sturdy, high-quality acrylic teeth that will look and feel like natural teeth. What’s more, these acrylic teeth are ideal for patients who are adjusting to their new dental implants because they put less pressure on the tender gums.

Good things come to those who wait

Another great benefit that comes with waiting six months for permanent zirconia teeth is the freedom to work with one of our restorative dentists and our lab technicians to design the ideal artificial teeth for you. Based on your experience with your temporary teeth, you can request adjustments to the size and shade of your permanent teeth that will ensure your satisfaction with them for decades to come.

If you have extensive tooth loss or decay, full mouth dental implants can give you a second chance at smiling, talking and eating as naturally as if you had the healthy teeth of your youth. Indeed, dental implants are easily the “gold standard” when it comes to teeth replacement.

However, they’re also an investment in your health and appearance, and it will be worth your while to fully explore your options and evaluate the credentials of any dental implant providers you’re considering. At New Teeth Now, we’ll be delighted to help you. We offer all the services you’ll need – including imaging, anesthesia and exquisite artificial tooth fabrication – all under one roof. Our team includes:

  • Board-certified oral surgeons who have perfected their dental implantation skills over many years and performed thousands of zygomatic implant procedures for patients with severe bone loss
  • Well-qualified and certified anesthetists who carefully monitor every patient to ensure their safety and comfort
